Methodology
This page explains where our numbers come from and how the comparison is built, so you can judge how representative it is.
Where the data comes from
Exchange rates and fees are collected directly from each provider's own public pricing services — their websites and APIs — and refreshed every 15 minutes. We do not use estimates from third parties or scraped comparison lists.
The mid-market anchor
Every quoted rate is expressed as a margin against the live mid-market rate (sourced from Wise, which takes no FX markup). This lets us compare a low headline fee against a weaker exchange rate on a like-for-like basis. A low fee is not always the cheapest option if the rate is poor.
How providers are ranked
Providers are ranked by the amount your recipient actually receives after all fees are deducted, for the amount, customer type (new or existing) and payout method you select. Ties are broken by the effective exchange rate.
"Estimated" rows
If a provider's API is briefly unavailable, we re-price its last known fee using its recent margin against the current mid-market rate and mark the row estimated. This keeps a provider visible instead of dropping out during a short outage. Estimated rows are updated to live pricing as soon as the provider responds again.
Limitations
Rates move constantly and can differ by payment method, amount, customer status and payout partner. Figures here are indicative and may lag the live quote you see at checkout. Always confirm the final amount on the provider's site before sending. Payout partners (banks, wallets, cash networks) are listed for guidance and can change.
Independence
Some "Send" links are affiliate links and may earn us a commission. Rankings, inclusion and ordering are never influenced by commercial arrangements. See about.
