Wise — money transfer review
Converts at the mid-market exchange rate with a separate, transparent fee.
About Wise
Wise (formerly TransferWise) converts money at the mid-market exchange rate and charges a separate, clearly itemised fee, rather than building its margin into the rate.
Because it uses the real mid-market rate, Wise is usually one of the strongest options for straightforward bank-to-bank transfers on the routes it serves.
Paying into Wise
Bank transfer (open banking) is cheapest; debit card, credit card and Apple Pay cost more, and the fee depends on the amount.
How recipients get paid
Mainly bank deposits. Some routes also support local wallet or card payouts.
Best for
Transparent pricing and a near-zero FX margin — ideal when you want bank-to-bank.
